Pork Barbecue Competition Seeks Amateur Iowa Grillers
If backyard barbecuing is your thing, prove it! Amateur Iowa grillers are invited to test their skills and recipes against other home chefs during the Backyard BBQ Competition, part of BBQ & Brew at the Ballpark this summer in Des Moines.Registration is open for teams to compete at the second-annual BBQ & Brew, a charitable event presented by the Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) and Iowa Cubs — the Minor League Baseball team in Des Moines. The Vinton Fire Department announced the date for their Spring Fish Fry Fundraiser. Located at 109 E. 2nd St. in Vinton the meal will be held on March 22 from 4-7:00 p.m. the cost is a free-will donation.The VFD said, "Let us do the cooking after a long work-week at our annual fish fry fundraiser serving our hand-breaded fried fish, homestyle french fries, coleslaw, baked beans, dinner roll, and a great selection of homemade desserts.
Trinity Lutheran Church To-go Meal Thursday Menu
Trinity Lutheran Church located at 1002 East 13th Street, will be holding its To Go meals on Thursdays from 5-6:30 p.m.Thursday, March 21, the church will be serving Barbecue beef sandwich, chips, corn casserole, dessert.Delivery will be from the kitchen door. Scholarship Day at the Library Saturday, March 23
Vinton Shellsburg Seniors are invited to stop at the Library on Saturday. March 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to work on college and trade school scholarship applications. There will be study aids, snacks, and experienced professionals on hand to help answer questions and provide you with essay feedback. The Brandon United Methodist Church will hold its Pancake Breakfast & Bake Sale will be held on Saturday, March 30, from 7-10 a.m.On the menu will be Eggs, Sausage, Pancakes, Ham, Juice and Coffee for a freewill donation.The church is located at 507 Main Street in Brandon. The building is also handicap accessible.

We are planning our annual golf tournament with IHA and the Shellsburg Lions which means one thing… raffle ticketTickets are just $1 each or 6 for $5 and winners can get $100, $200 or $300 CASH!!! Garrison Lions Beef and Noodle Fundraiser, March 23
Join us on Saturday March 23, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm for our 4th Annual Beef & Noodles fundraiser. You can either dine in or grab and go. Everything will take place at the Fire Station in Garrison. We will also be handing out the items you ordered during our food sales drive at the same time.The menu will be homemade Beef & Noodles, green beans, a roll, and fruit.

March 11 – “Monarchs and Milkweeds” by August Bergstrom. March 18 – “Curb Appeal-Where to Start” by Deb Walser, includes many before and after slides. March 25 – “Connect, Grow, Share a Row,” by Beula Dovork, about what you can do to combat hunger in Linn County.
