Benton County Historical Society will be hosting a Presentation tomorrow, January 12 called "Delve Into Your DNA." This presentation is open to the Public for a Free Will Donation. All donations will go directly to the Benton County Historical Society. Have you seen all the news about DNA testing and Family tree building websites? Are you curious how it all works? It's called Genetic Genealogy! And we invite you to come get a first-hand look at how to build your own family tree, find your ancestor's historical records and learn the secrets your DNA holds. Genetic Genealogy is an emerging application of DNA testing and Analysis used in combination with traditional Ancestry Family Tree Building. Our Presenter Crystal Coder, will guide us through the ins and outs of building family trees, finding historical records and finding lost relatives with DNA. She will also share with us how she has assisted in several searches that have located birth parents, half-siblings, double cousins and more. Crystal is a Member of the International Society of Genetic Genealogy, a collaborator for WikiTree and Find A Grave; as well as a Founding Member of Ohana Ancestry. Ohana Ancestry is a "team of women that share the love of Genealogy and are passionate about helping individuals, who have had Unexpected DNA results, find their roots and locate previously unknown family member." The event will be tomorrow, January 12, at the Ray House from 9:00-11:00 am.
