Results from the North Central Iowa Swim Conference Meet in Grinnell are attached - photos to come later today. VSU did well - placing 4th among 7 strong teams. Many girls had their best times of the season or very close to it. Arabella Shepard had a great day - winning both her individual events of the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke (events she has qualified to swim at State on Nov 2). Shepard was also part of the 200 Medley Relay that placed 2nd and the 200 Freestyle Relay that placed 3rd. Even more notably, Shepard was named NCI Conference Athlete Of The Year - an award voted on by the conference coaches based on her athletic performance, leadership, academic achievement, and citizenship. She was also awarded an All-Conference Academic Recognition. Geordyn Webster had another big day - taking 2nd place in both her individual events against incredibly talented fields. She swam 2 of her best times of the season, cutting more than a second off her best 100 Freestyle time (in an event where hundredths of a second can make a huge difference). Carlie Spore, Zoe Mohr, Abby Morarie and Hanna Higley also all cut significant amounts of time in their events. We'll be back in Grinnell on Oct 27th for our District Meet.
