Sports : Vikettes ready for CPU in tonight's battle of ranked teams

VINTON -- The 15th ranked Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes, 11-2 (4-1 WaMaC West), and 3-1 since the Christmas holiday. Since the holiday break, Coach Rich Haisman's Vikettes have defeated the Williamsburg Raiders, 66-53 behind Lucy Howes-Vonstein's 23 points, beating Dunkerton 62-14, with Kayla Griffith scoring 16 points and sophomore Alyssa Griffith scoring 14. Against Independence, the Vikettes won 50-19 behind senior Kayla Griffith's 14 points. Sophomore Alyssa Griffith and senior Kayla Griffith scoring 16 points each in a 59-56 overtime loss to Clear Creek Amana. The No. 15 Vikettes take on the No. 4 Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers in Garrison Fieldhouse tonight at 7:30 PM.
