On Friday, we competed in the Varsity WaMaC Tourney for Bowling and as it turns out, both Vinton Shellsburg teams came to play. This was such an exciting day with great outcomes.

Due to the current pandemic, things have changed in many ways and this is no different for our Bowling Season. Normally we would bowl on separate lanes for boys and girls and they would not get to see all of the scores except for what the coaches update them with. This year we were on the same pair and the excitement rose. The team cheers, the smiles and the fist bumps were priceless.

The coaching staff struggled to hold back the tears as the results were read. The looks on the kids' faces and the realization that WE DID IT, just melts your heart. I will let the results speak for themselves.

We had all boys receive top ten medals. As the medals were presented for individuals, the boys realized the results and their faces were priceless. High for Vinton Shellsburg was junior Riley Richart with a 411 series averaging 205.5. As for the team, these boys came out on top for a 3-peat WAMAC CHAMPION trophy being placed in the trophy case. Our total was 2934 which is over a 195 average. AWESOME JOB BOYS!

The Vinton Shellsburg Girls have been improving over the years and finally, we come home with the win. These girls have gelled so well as a team and continue to laugh and have fun throughout the season. Today, we had 4 girls receive medals in the WaMaC top ten which is the most we have ever had. Christina Harrelson came out on top with a 397 series which is just shy of a 200 average. This is also such a great meet as the girls for the first time ever are the WAMAC CHAMPIONS and bring home the trophy. The team shot 2661 which is a 177 average over 15 games, almost 200 pins over 2nd place. WAY TO GO GIRLS!

I want to thank all of the parents and fans for their continued support as well as proprietors Steve and Carlyn Berry for all the assistance through the years. Please keep these kids in your thoughts as we travel to Des Moines and Pella this week for State qualifying meets on Monday and Tuesday.
