Misery is a 1990 American psychological thriller film directed by Rob Reiner, based on Stephen King's 1987 novel of the same name, starring James Caan, Kathy Bates, Lauren Bacall, Richard Farnsworth, and Frances Sternhagen. The plot centers around an obsessive fan who holds an author captive and forces him to rewrite the finale to his book series.After a serious car crash, novelist Paul Sheldon is rescued by former nurse Annie Wilkes, who claims to be his biggest fan. "I wanna dance with somebody" arriving at the Vinton Palace Theatre this weekend
I Wanna Dance with Somebody is a powerful and triumphant celebration of the incomparable Whitney Houston. Noah Lindauer, a graduate of Vinton-Shellsburg, will premiere five of his short films and music videos. The projects reflect his first year and a half at William Penn University in Oskaloosa. For all of them, he is the writer, director, and producer. Among the films will be "Attraction: Small Town Iowa," a short documentary highlighting four locations in Iowa: The American Gothic House, Maquoketa Caves, Amana Colonies, and The Grotto of Redemption. Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival, April 14-15, Announces Call for Entries
The 2023 Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival will be held April 14-15, 2023 at the Collins Road Theatres, 1462 Twixt Town Road, Marion, Iowa. S.O.S. (Save our Santa) & Reindeer's Revenge at the Palace
ACTI will hold a Holiday Double Feature presentation on Saturday, December 3 at 10:30 am and Sunday, December 4 at 2 pm. The two productions include, "SOS: Save Our Santa" and "Reindeer's Revenge."Admission for the two plays will be $5. Concessions will also be available at the Palace. Normally, I don't promote anything happening outside of Benton County. However, it's the Christmas season, and this news release came in. There is a Live Animal Christmas Show that happens in southeast Iowa in Washington, Iowa. I've seen this production, in Washington, Iowa, and as a gal that's seen a lifetime of church productions, this one is impressive.
