HOME MEET 10/19 vs. Williamsburg
With the Braille School pool only being 20 yards, not the regulation 25 yards, the meet doesn't count in our regular season. Williamsburg comes anyway for a meet that we enjoy mixing up a bit. The captains of both teams got to set the entry lineup, allowing girls to swim different events than they typically swim in season. And we cap it off with a mixed-team fun relay - so VS-CPU mixes relay teams with Williamsburg swimmers - this year the captains chose a pumpkin relay: carrying a small pumpkin (painted by VS-CPU swimmers) on a spoon while swimming a length of the pool then handing off to the next teammate. The girls all showed great creativity and skill in this race (maybe even more than in the actual races!). MEET @ MUSCATINE 10/26:

Final results attached.

Olivia Schminke took 1st place in the 200 IM with a commanding lead over 2nd place. We had six personal best times swum by four different girls, so that makes for a fun night. Junior newcomer Emily Johnson had a fantastic night, dropping 1.31 seconds in her 50 Freestyle and a whopping 5.15 seconds in her 100 Breaststroke, landing her in 3rd place overall. Emily has worked so incredibly hard this season, pushing herself in every practice - so it's exciting to see her achieve some great times toward the end of the season. We have one more week of practice before our state-qualifying meet at LinnMar on Saturday, November 4.
