Karen's dedication and hard work have truly made a significant impact on our school community. One of her major achievements is working to secure the Community Eligibility Provision for our school district. This means that starting next school year, all students will receive free breakfast and lunch, ensuring that no child goes hungry while striving for their academic success.

Urbana Residents Rally Behind Police Chief

There is nothing like picking on a good man to bring out all the mama bears and the folks that he has helped. Several Urbana residents have been quick to have the Police Chief's back. The community of Urbana has banded together to show support for their Chief, and had a ton of good things to say about the man/As I read all of the words said about this police chief I noted one thing, there wasn't anything bad said about him.

(NHDD) WHAT IS IT? NHDD is a day that was founded in 2008 by a healthcare lawyer, Nathan Kottkamp. This was founded to provide clear, concise, and consistent medical information for one’s healthcare decision-making. This is a day that exists for advancing our care plans and empowering the public and physicians to know the importance of the care plans.

The Oath of Office will be administered during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on May 9, 2024 at 7:00pm, held in the City Council Chambers, Vinton City Hall.

Veteran's Affair under new leadership in Benton County

One of the state-mandated departments funded by Benton County is the Benton County Veterans Affairs Department. This office serves veterans of every age. It doesn't matter if you're young, middle-aged, retired, or years past retirement, you really should stop and talk with Courtney Long. You might recognize Courtney from seeing her in the Auditor's Office over the last four and a half years.

DO YOU WANNA ROCK?? ACT I TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR ROCK OF AGES!

ACT I of Benton County is pleased to announce that we will be holding auditions for our upcoming musical production of Rock of Ages. Auditions will be held on Sunday April 14th at 2PM and 3PM, and Monday April 15th at 6PM and 7PM. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday April 16th at 6PM. All auditions will be held at the Palace Theatre at 210 W 4th St in Vinton.

Urbana Police Department the first to fall under new Ordinance

As of Wednesday, April 10, the City of Urbana no longer has police protection. On the evening of April 2, 2024, a "Special Council Meeting" was held in which the Urbana mayor and city council approved the agenda item listed as  "Agenda Item B, Ch 15 Mayor, Ch 18 City Clerk & Ch 22 City Administrator Ordinance #181 Amendment – First Reading.' It appears that this ordinance mirrors the duties of the mayor and council and handed them to the City Administrator/Clerk, Jennifer Burkhart.

Vinton Kiwanis Club Welcomes BCSPC

The Benton County Suicide Coalition presented a program to the local Vinton Kiwanis. Greg Walston introduced Braxton Morrison who addressed the group. Both men shared that while they haven't had family members affected by suicide, they have seen the need for something to address the issue. In 2022, the county had a total of six residents succumb to suicide.

Grilled Pork Loin Supper Brandon Fire & EMS Saturday, April 13, 2024

 A grilled pork loin supper fundraiser sponsored by Brandon Fire and EMS.The supper will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Brandon Area Community Center.Free will donationPlease come and support the Emergency Services.  All proceeds will be used for equipment and training.This event will replace the Auction held in October.
