Business : Nutrient management meeting set for Dec. 16

AMES, IOWA—Iowa Learning Farms, along with the Rapid Creek Watershed Project and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, will host a nutrient management meeting on Wednesday, December 16, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Morse Community Club in Iowa City. The event is free and open to the public and includes a complementary meal.

Speaking at the meeting are ISU Extension and Outreach Field Agronomist Meaghan Anderson and Agricultural Engineer Greg Brenneman. They will discuss phosphorus management and ISU’s General Guide for Nutrient and Limestone Recommendations for Iowa. Anderson and Brenneman will also discuss interpreting soil test results, the likelihood of monetary returns on different testing soils, and implications of fertilizing based on those results. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own soil test results to have them interpreted. The meeting will also include an Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy discussion from Iowa Learning Farms and an update on the Rapid Creek Watershed Project from Justin Bisinger.

The field day will be held at the Morse Community Club located at 2542 Putnam St NE, Iowa City, IA. The workshop is free and open to the public, but reservations are suggested to ensure adequate space and food.
