Rusty and Dianna Wright are welcoming customers to their latest location at Mickey's Bar in Vinton. The couple also own Pearl St. in Shellsburg and find that with the success there, they would bring the same magic to Vinton.

The original Mickey's Bar opened in 1974 and maintained the same look and feel until this year. The bar has been remodeled inside and out with a few windows added and a brand new sign. The bar is ready for business. There will also be an outside area added next year.

Mickey's also hosts live bands and welcomes anyone with a food truck to schedule a time to pull into the lot and set up business. (They will give you the electricity to operate.)

Rick Lazenby, manager, explained that unlike your regular run of the mill bars, Mickey's offers pizza on the menu, but if you want to grab a burger from Tootsie's and stop in for something to wash it down with, you're welcome to do that as well. Rusty said that they welcome kids (along with their adult sidekicks) until 10:00 p.m. (after that, it's time for the kids to be home in bed) and then just adults are welcome in the bar.

On Saturday, the business was welcomed to town with a ribbon cutting by Vinton Unlimited members. There was also an open house to welcome the community with a live band in the evening.

Stop out to Mickey's, bring a friend or a burger and enjoy the new scene.
