Elementary music teacher Gib Ziemer taught the first graders to use facial expressions as well as their singing voices to express the emotions of the songs they sing.

And many of those students showed that they learned those lessons well, as the annual first grad concert included songs about a missing bear and a request for a lobster or rhino that the students sang while using their facial muscles to demonstrate those emotions.

The concert began with "Grand Old Flag" and includes many songs which are part of the show because they are favorites of the students, said Mr. Ziemer.
