On Thursday, June 21, 2012, Traer’s Pool Committee will host the third in a series of public forums seeking public input on the future of the City’s swimming pool and bathhouse. The meeting will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in Taylor Park’s pavilion. The evening’s agenda includes a review of results from the feasibility study, online survey and previous community forum meetings; an in depth look at the preliminary design concept for the renovation project; and a report on fund development for the Make Waves for the Traer Pool, Keep FIT (Families In Traer) Campaign. “Our June forum promises to be fun and informative,” said Mr. Lee Wiges, General Chair of the Make Waves for the Traer Pool, Keep FIT Campaign. “We are hosting the meeting at Taylor Park so attendees can really visualize planned renovations to the pool and bathhouse. Additionally, we are offering free pool admission and refreshments between 6:30-9:00 p.m.. Parents interested in learning about the project are welcome to check their children in at the pool and attend the community meeting in the nearby pavilion.” The goal of the public forum is to continue to engage the Traer and Tama County community in a robust, detailed and open conversation. Forums held in January and March respectively drew approximately 25 Traer and Tama County residents of all ages. Traer’s volunteer Pool Committee members are Marlene Beenken, Kim Calderwood, Mark Keefer, Dahn Kennedy, Patty Suess, Kirstie Seda, and Sara Zeien. The Committee invites everyone to Make Waves for the Traer Pool by logging into the Campaign website, www.traerpool.net and completing the Public Opinion Survey.
