Vinton Today asked our mayoral candidates, and the new council member candidates to submit a profile about themselves and to address any issues that they felt were going well, things that need to be improved, or goals that they would like to see accomplished in Vinton, and of course, anything else they'd like to share.

I'm Bethany Gates, and I'm your 4th Ward City Councilwoman.

In March 2021, I was appointed by the Vinton City Council to fill the vacancy left by City Councilman Nathan Hesson, and I'm on the ballot this November to be officially elected to this position.
I'm married to my husband of 13 years, Judah, and we homeschool our 4 daughters. I'm a midwife, and I love working with women and families during the very important life stages of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I'm also an active member of Blessed Hope Community Church and serve on the Adult Discipleship and Praise teams.
We love Vinton and are excited to see Vinton continue to grow and thrive. Some of my goals as a member of the City Council include encouraging friendly policies and ordinances that make Vinton a place new businesses want to set up shop; increasing opportunities for new housing projects; increasing availability and access to family-friendly programs, and encouraging Vinton to continue to grow and prosper.

I would be honored to have the vote of my fellow 4th ward residents.
