Heritage Area Agency on Aging, located on the Kirkwood Campus in Cedar Rapids, is looking for Benton County residents interested in serving on its Advisory Council.  The Advisory Council is required by the Older Americans Act (OAA). OAA serves an important function representing each of the counties Heritage serves (including Benton), and residents' specific concerns and needs. They meet on the 4th Thursday of the month at 1:00 pm - one month is a formal meeting, and the next month an optional open discussion, repeating throughout the year. The meetings are a hybrid option, either face-to-face or via Zoom. Heritage AAA is looking for anyone with an interest or expertise in aging issues in Benton County; it is required to have more than 50% of the Advisory Council to be over the age 60. Should someone be interested, they should reach out to Barbara Werning, Executive Director of Heritage Area Agency on Aging, cell: 319-551-6243  HeritageAAA.org
