The Benton County Democrats held their annual fundraising dinner on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Newhall Park Pavilion. Attending were many of the Democratic candidates including, Rep. Tyler Olson, Sen. Jack Hatch, Bob Krause who are running for Governor. Monica Vernon, Rep. Pat Murphy, Dave O’Brien, Rep. Anesa Kajtazovic who are running for 1st District Representative and former Lt. Gov. Patty Judge representing Swati Dandekar. Also Benton County Supervisor Candidate Shelley Parbs spoke to the enthusiastic crowd.
A great meal was prepared by Mama Hoyt’s Catering of Elberon. After the candidates spoke Dave Thompson served as auctioneer for the live auction.
A special part of the evening included a recognition of long-time Democratic supporters Dick and Mary Schoonover. Chair Rosemary Schwartz and photographer Joyce Lucas presented a certificate of appreciation at their home the previous Thursday. Because of health reasons, Dick has not been active coming to committee meetings as he did in the past. Dick and Mary have hosted numerous events for Democrats at their home in Vinton over the years. Their dedication and support to the party and to the candidates is deeply appreciated. Photos are attached of that presentation and of the event itself.
