The Vinton Lions Club held their regular Wednesday meeting at the Pizza Ranch. There were 50 members and one guest present. Member Rae Dugan introduced her guest, Jaimie Thompkins from Iowa City. Jaimie is a branch trainer for the University of Iowa Community Credit Union.
Member Pat Lyons then gave a recap of the Club’s recent trip to the performance of the Iowa Theater Arts Company’s “All School Reunion”. The dinner theater was held at the former Barn Restaurant in the Amana Colonies. 20 couples enjoyed the five course meal and performance by former Old Creamery Theatre performers Meg Merkins and Tom Johnson. “Meg said it was like old friends’ day”, Pat Lyons said. “She really enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces.” President Julie Zimmer told the members that the Iowa Theater Arts Company will be performing “The Bees Knees” in Dysart very soon. She said to contact her if you need more information. The performance is a fundraiser for the Garrison Lions Club. After some general discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
The Vinton Lions Club is one of the largest and most active service organizations in Vinton with 88 dues paying members. Meetings are held at the Pizza Ranch at noon each Wednesday.
