News : Three towns, three events for VS FFA this summer

Each year Shellsburg, Garrison, and Vinton have events that take place to get members of the community out and mingling. The day or days that those occur people get to meet others, eat real good food, and above all have fun.

The Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter sets-up a petting zoo for the Shellsburg Fun Day on June 16th and Garrison Fun Day on July 9th. Many people gathered to take part in the events and see the variety of animals. The Chapters’ Vice-President, George Haefner, provided many of the animals. Other members came to watch over the animals and help young kids pet them properly in order to keep everyone safe.

Party in the Park took place in Vinton from June 23rd- 25th. Starting on the 23rd at 7am, members of our chapter gathered garbage barrels and placed them at the courthouse and around Riverside Park where the main events were to be held. Our chapter also provided a petting zoo here that included mini donkeys, sheep, goats, calves, a rabbit, and a duck. On the 25th from 11-3 members provided horse rides to anyone that wanted a ride. There were five horses all together which were provided by Melissa Heeren, Brittany Hansen, and the Haefner family.
