Robert "Bob" DuCharme, the former owner of Tactical Creations in Vinton, was arrested last March 5, 2024, on a total of 10 charges:

1 - Sexual Abuse, Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, a Class B Felony

2,3,4,5,6 - Sexual Abuse, 2nd Degree, Class B Felony

7, 8- Assault with intent to Commit Sexual Abuse, Aggravated Misdemeanor

9, 10 - Lascivious Acts with a Child - Fondle or Touch, Class C Felony

This week DuCharme entered an Alford plea of guilt to charges 8,9 and 10. An Alford plea is not the same as a standard guilty plea because a defendant entering an Alford plea maintains their innocence while acknowledging that the prosecution has enough evidence to convict them, essentially pleading guilty without admitting guilt to the crime itself; meaning, the legal outcome is the same as a guilty plea, but the defendant can still claim innocence.

On the charges of Lascivious Acts with a Child charge, he could receive a prison term of up to ten years and a fine of $1,000 to $10,000 under Iowa Code § 902.9

His sentencing will be held on March 27, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.

DB February 17, 2025, 2:26 pm Are you serious? Alford plea? Why bother. Plead guilty. The world already knows what a creep you are. As hard as these charges are to read, the fact a child lived through each of these events and no doubt more than will ever be known, plus the day-to-day stress of this monster and not knowing when the next assault would happen, is beyond comprehension. Throw the book at this coward.
