Vinton Farmer Lance Lillibridge will be representing corn growers on the Iowa Corn Promotion Board after being elected to the position. Lillibridge says the board helps oversee the investment of funds generated by the Iowa corn checkoff.
“The promotion board works heavily on new (corn) uses, trade, and domestic usage like ethanol.” One of his priorities is finding ways to address rising input costs.
“We need to keep corn farmers profitable and so we can look at how we can drive down some of these input costs,” said Lillibridge. “That would be of much benefit to the corn farmer. We need to figure things out there.” Some of the tasks that the board takes on is new uses and trade, domestic use like ethanol would be part of that. He will be encourage taking a look at the input costs of things, helping farmers to stay profitable and see if there are ways that some of the costs can be driven down. Of course, he will also welcome new use research and working with trade partners. Another area he wants to make sure to maintain is a great relationship with the Meat Export Federation as pork, poultry and beef are a steady part of the consumption of corn.
Lillibridge has also served as a past president of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, says that the promotion board also needs to keep its close relationship with the US Meat Export Federation.
