The Vinton Area Dollars for Scholars as successfully completed their annual roping project.  Local businesses and individuals order fresh roping and wreaths that were put up or delivered on November 10th  with the help of Schoonover Tuckpointing, USA Communications, Vinton/Shellsburg FFA, Vinton/Shellsburg NHS, Ameri-Corp, and many other volunteers.  A special thanks to the people that ordered roping and wreaths and to all the helpers.   On January 5th many of the same volunteers will be taking the roping down starting at 9:00am.

The $4,000 raised will go toward scholarships in the Vinton/Shellsburg school district.  The Vinton Area Dollars for Scholars is a locally operated and supported, non-profit, tax exempt scholarship foundation operated by an all-volunteer board of directors.  The purpose of Dollars for Scholars is to expand access to higher education by involving and assisting the community to support local students.  In 2012 the Vinton Chapter awarded 7 scholarships for $1,000 each.
