Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St., in Vinton with David Condry officiating. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday. A memorial fund will be established.
Charles Leroy Blackburn, know to family and friends as "Charlie" was born December 4, 1956 at Cedar Rapids to Walter "Leroy" and Karen (Risdon) Blackburn and graduated from the Dysart High School in 1975.
On May 24, 1980, he was united in marriage to Cynthia "Cindy" Benson at Dysart.
Charlie had been employed as a foundry worker at John Deere. He loved photography, native American art, the Green Bay Packers and the outdoors. His mischievous sense of humor endeared him to his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy of Vinton; his son, Blane Leroy Blackburn of Cedar Rapids; his father, Leroy Blackburn of Dysart; his sisters, Jannane (Steve) Koch of Toledo and Kara Butterfield of Dysart and his brother, Brad (Kerry) Blackburn of Dysart.
Charlie was preceded in death by his mother in 1995.
