Dear Editor, Many people will decide not to vote in the upcoming elections for various reasons; but if there was ever a critical time to do so, it is NOW! Get out of your easy chairs...throw down the dish towels and go vote.
I am 74 years old now. I joined the Young Democrats when I was a junior in high school. This was shocking to my family because both sides had been Republicans as far back as Teddy Roosevelt. But I stood my ground. I went door to door passing out pamphlets for L. Johnson who was running against B. Goldwater [for those of you who don't remember.] When I was expecting my third child, I made phone calls in support of George McGovern.
As I have always been proud of being a strong Democrat, I have never regretted any of my votes...until now. I voted for Joe Biden, and I regret it every single time I watch the news or look at my computer!
After earning two degrees in Iowa, I got sent to Wichita, KS in 1985 for a job promotion. While there, I decided to go back to college to get further education that would allow me to become a teacher. I had to take out student loans to attend Wichita State University. I signed the papers knowing full well that I had the responsibility to pay them back. When I got a job, I had to find a place to live, get a vehicle, etc. It was difficult at times, but I got the loans paid back. Millions of people did the same. I strongly oppose President Biden's actions to forgive $10,000 or $20,000 of student loans. These people signed papers promising to repay what was borrowed.
The biggest fault I find with our country's "leader" is the border crisis. His second-in-command said on Meet the Press that our borders are secure. I almost dropped my cup of coffee at her statement. [5.5 million have crossed the border since Biden took office.] This figure is probably much higher. The news shows hoards of these people crammed together wherever there is room for them. Resources will be used to house and feed them. Crime and violence will go up in these areas. Something needs to be done...and soon! Does the President have his head buried in the sand? He apparently can't take the hints from Governors Abbot and Desantis.
As I said, I deeply regret my vote! Don't get me wrong; I wouldn't have voted for Donald Trump. But that's another story. I truly believe that the Republicans need to control the House and the Senate for things to turn around. This country and our continued freedom depend on strong leaders. For this election I voted entirely for Republicans except for Liz Mathis. And I say this without any regrets.
Please look over the candidates...make wise decisions...and GO VOTE!!
Peggy Kelley

If the republicans control the house and senate what would their agenda be? I just heard McCarthy say no they wouldn't cut social security, they would work to "save and protect it"!!! Well, what does that mean? I think there are only two ways to "save & protect" you either cut benefits or increase payroll taxes on the wealthy so they pair their fair share. Who will draw the largest benefit when they retire, the wealthy of course but they paid ihn the same amount I did. That's not right. One thing I am positive of is republicans are liars, and there is no doubt about that. If and when they have complete control SS and Medicare will be cut and some of them bwant to eliminate it. They will do exactly what they want when they are in control.
Republicans have been guilty of banning books, books that are about historical truths, like the book written by Ruby Bridges. If black children can survive racism, white children can survive learning about slavery.
I watched many many TV ads by Ashley Hinson blaming President Biden and Rep Nancy Pelosi for gas prices. Everyone who ever paid attention knows the President has nothing to do with gas prices. Opec and the big oil companies control that. Now the big oil companies have cut production so they can raise prices again. They are just plain greedy.
When corporations buy back stocks what do you suppose they are doing for their employees? That's right, not a thing. Big corporations are making record breaking profits and that is not "trickling" down to their employees. It goes to stock by backs and their pockets. I am not talking about the government being out some money I am talking about the employees who receive none of those record breaking profits even though they are doing the work.
Don't understand why republicans are so full of hate for Nancy Pelosi. So full of hate that when her husband was beat in the head with a hammer some of them made jokes about it and laughed about it. Shame on them for such a lack of compassion.
So are republicans concerned about our democracy? No they are not because they want to take complete control so we can live in a dictatorship. If that happens you will soon regret your vote.
Be careful what you vote for, you may live to regret it. Vote Blue.
Your hateful republican rhetoric contributes to the problem.
The price of gas is high in other countries too. Denmark is paying $10.02, France $8.06, Canada $6.49 and China $5.50 for example. My question is are you blaming President for that too?
The same goes for inflation. Turkey has an inflation rate of 83.5%, Germany 10%, U.K. 10.1% and Italy 8.9%. Are you blaming President Biden for all of that too?
He must have damn long arms to reach around the world like that, NOT
Again, go enroll in a basic class on simple economics. Next time I see a warning label on something that should be common sense for most of us, I will know it is there for you.
As far as what I posted I went back to look for updated numbers.
The previous gas prices were from Forbes and were from May These updated prices are from Global Petrol Prices from the end of October. Denmark, $7.67; France, $6.00; Canada, $5.41; China, $4.66.
As for inflation the updated numbers are from Trading Economics. Turkey, 85.5% 10/22; Germany 10.4% 10/22; U.K., 10.1% 9/22; Italy, 11.9% 10/22.
Now I don't care what you think of me but you said you were no longer going to respond to what I say but here you are being totally disrespectful again. Are you not capable of just having a conversation without being a jerk? I am sick of your nastiness and your superior attitude. Stuff it Gerald.
I wish I had as much time as you appear to have posting your anti-American, anti-Republican and anti-Men rhetoric. Most of us have to work for a living. I am not anti-Women or even anti-Democrat. I do consider myself to be anti-Fake News and anti-Socialist. So when you start spouting out fictional numbers and fake information in an attempt to sway public opinion to follow your delusional views of reality, you can and should expect to be corrected.
I have read countless comments you have made against Republicans and especially men in general. They are disturbing at best and only God knows what brought you to the point you have so much hate.
Personally and with all due respect to you "Ms Norma" it's very difficult to ignore common sense when you try repeatedly without end to blame Trump for everything we now face under Biden. Here is a big update for you; Trump is not and has not been our President for some time now.. Fuel prices and an out of control border along with the countless overdose deaths of Americans all fall at the feet of Biden and his Green Energy Nuts. None of these issues were even close to the numbers we now face in this country. Only an idiot would cut our own production of "our" oil and then go and beg the Saudis to produce more and worse yet, beg our enemies to do the same! How stupid (not you Ms Norma)can one be? Where do you think that money goes? The vast majority of it goes to the countries who pump the oil! Sure petroleum companies make some profits and thank God they do or they would go out of business and what are you going to do then? Ride around on a mule?
Ms NG, I sincerely hope you have a great rest of your weekend and that God finds a way to soften your heart and frees you from so much hate.
Here are a few numbers to ponder.

Your biggest decision on political votes is whether your legislator can tell a woman how to manage their family planning? So now we have 50 different state versions of how a woman makes her decision about what should be a private matter between herself, her doctor, and her God. A basic woman's right now depends upon what state she lives in and will become a political talking point every two years. I really think there are more important issues that need to be addressed by legislators.
