Dear Editor,

A section of your article stood out to me concerning HR in Benton County.

We would never think it "normal" for three grown women to tell a grown man that they can't do a job fearing it might be "too much." However, it appears that the Benton County Supervisors are comfortable demeaning one of their own employees in this public way by telling a grown woman that she is not capable of handling a task.

Perhaps these men should reconsider their dated behavior and apologize, recognize that if the lady has a plan, and let her do the job. Not "let" her, necessarily, but recognize that she's already doing the job, back away and let her continue. Unless of course, you believe that women are somehow unable to function unless you intervene. When Auditor Ripple laid out her plan, providing copies to the group, as well as a provision for situations involving personnel, you should have thanked her.

It appears that she's the only one in the room attempting to do her job, and that is to responsibly serve the county.

Thank you Ms. Ripple.

Sue Willis

JP April 20, 2023, 7:32 pm She was elected to the position. She was doing the job before and if the men in the county are threatened by her then they should be ashamed of themselves.
RA April 20, 2023, 10:17 pm The wife and I both watched the link. I was prepared to disagree with the takeaway, but like my wife said, "It was like watching a two-year-old excited to get an ice cream cone!" WTH? So weird.
BT April 21, 2023, 1:42 pm Thank you Ms. Ripple. And men; shut up and move out of the way.

KT May 2, 2023, 2:51 pm I would like to know why Mr.Primmer is so gung-ho on a new HR director or for Pete's sake, 2??? The Auditor's office handled HR issues better than the last person who was never in her office when needed. What does the HR person do when people aren't in her office? Save the county money. The person isn't in that much need of county employees----Makes sense to me, and a lot of others who just won't speak up.
