Dear Editor:
Is the glass half full or half empty?
What political ad was this?????
Full text of the ad:
"It's morning again in America. Today more men and women will go to work than ever before in our country's history. With interest rates at about half the record highs of 1980, nearly 2,000 families today will buy new homes, more than at any time in the past four years. This afternoon 6,500 young men and women will be married, and with inflation at less than half of what it was just four years ago, they can look forward with confidence to the future. It's morning again in America, and under the leadership of President Reagan, our country is prouder and stronger and better. Why would we ever want to return to where we were less than four short years ago?" From an advertisement for the election of Ronald Reagan, my favorite President and in my opinion the very best in my lifetime.
A new hope, a turning of the page; January 20, 2025, the inauguration of a different leader -- come on, the Country awaits. Many of us that write opinions on this page had hopes, but the massive amount of money spent by Liberal PACS and the DNC were worrisome - today I find that a billion dollars spent to get Kamala Harris elected - didn't work - but she still has a deficit of 20 million that must be paid into the campaign fund. More than half of eligible voters saw through the haze and voted righteously and in my opinion, correctly. Sometimes the good guys do win. My hope is now our Nation can heal and be great again. Never ever give up!!! Never ever give in. Never ever bow to intimidation, or attacks on honesty or integrity, or character. May right and might win again.
On the Vinton Today opinion page Valerie wrote a really good article. If you have not read it please take the time to do so.
My message is a little more pointed. There have been a few brave souls who have written original thoughts on these pages. These have been met almost instantly with the barbs and arrows by Schwatz, Braden, Linsey, and Gould and others. I ask you; have these individuals given original thinking in their criticism; or has it been intimidation, attacks on character, and honesty? When have they ever commented on the issues raised??? I can't come up with an instance where they have engaged in honest debate.
On the 5th of November a majority of the people have spoken with their vote. The Democrats have been skunked. The majority are not buying what the Democrats are selling. The politicians have stated that we must not go back but only forward. Well, go back to the Reagan ad., a happy warrior who fought to get us all better. The economy under Carter was grim for me and for many who had some hold on an agricultural or related business. It took a while, but with the advice given and taken by Art Laffer, and Jack Kemp; Supply Side Economics was adopted. Farming and business got better and my employment with Trans World Airlines lasted without interruption until my retirement in 2001.
So what now? Have you had enough yet? Will we get a new chapter where the border is secure, crime is under control, business at home thrives, our finances are more secure, and our adversaries (China, Russia, Iran, Islamic radicals) are brought to bay or at least starting to think that they do not want to mess with the U.S.A.? There are certainly other concerns, but the above are what catch my attention now.
On January 20, 2025 I hope for; "It's morning again in America". Things are going to be better. God bless us all, and may God continue to bless The United States of America.
Regards,
John Stiegelmeyer

What has amazed me since election day, is ALL the reporters, TV show hosts, and people like Michael Meyers who stated with firm convictions that Trump would be "buried by the Harris/Walz LANDSLIDE." Now, they are ALL scratching their heads. How could this have happened??? What did we miss is the BIG QUESTION.
The obvious answer is---
THE PEOPLE SPOKE!!!!!
On Monday night at 6:00 pm millions of Americans prayed for the election and asked for God's will to be done.
Prayer changes things.
Amen
Veterans Day is Monday and so thank you for your service to our country and all of our Veterans.
Penn State glass was half empty. On Wednesday, it was half full.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES!!!!!
own original opinions.
Nice to be with you guys: JS...BK...DC...And, of course, you GB!!!
AT LEAST WE KNEW WHO TO VOTE FOR!!!
We played the Trump card!!!
I try really hard to not title a specific person as an idiot. Yet when someone starts bragging about idiotic ideas that are nothing more than nonsense such as bragging about the "Great job Biden has done, most people with an ounce of common sense already recognize such statements as nonsense. If someone attaches themselves to the title of "Idiot" that is likely the voice of reason talking to them and not because I told them they were an idiot.
Yet when someone personally attacks someone views, they are not immune from the same treatment.
When 70+% of the folks say we're headed in the wrong direction, change is going to occur. Trump will have another 4 years to remind folks why energy independence, responsible fiscal policies, a secure border and the rule of law are the only reasonable path for our great nation if we intend to move forward. The people have chosen Trump to make these changes, and I'm confident he will.
As for those with ruffled feathers . . . my suggestion would be to get used to it . . . or join the only solid way forward for our country because I'm pretty sure the conservative voices here are simply not going to change or go away.
Peace folks!
Later
Dave
