Opinion : Editor: Is Lady Justice still blindfolded and the scales of justice balanced?

First, people expect justice including a hearing of the prosecution's charges, and a rigorous defense and a judge who referees the two councils to make sure the rules of evidence and the various protections of the Defendant are upheld. When both councils give their final arguments the judge must give instructions to the jury as to the law defined. But what we have seen in the case of New York, D.C. courts and Fulton County, Georgia, (which contains most of Atlanta, ) is described as "lawfare". That is, the law is used against a political opponent regardless of fairness or legal standing, Perhaps my analysis is naive. Perhaps there is no justice if it is political and is meant to be vengeful.

I am a layman when it comes to the law both civil and criminal. I was privileged to take a business law course while studying for my Bachelor's degree at Iowa State University. This was a large class; perhaps some 200 students. We were given a text that contained briefs of various business cases. The instructor was not only a practicing attorney but was also a great showman and instructor. He would call on students randomly to give their analysis of the case being studied. Woe to the individual who would be called on and unprepared. It wasn't pretty so all prepared to their best. The thing I learned was that generally the law and remedies were basically common sense solutions.

The court filings against President Trump, in my view, were not about fairness or a fair remedy to the plaintiff or prosecution. It was to prevent him from running again for the high office of POTUS; it didn't work, each court filing increased his populism and standing in the polls; and regardless of the charges He WON.

To the point: RB keeps chastising me for not mentioning the various felony convictions in the so-called hush money case. He stated that our now President was a rapist. Hmm!, I don't recall him being charged with that. I do wonder how Mr. Biden would characterize Bill Clinton's sexual dalliances from Hope, Arkansas to D.C. How many women's lives and reputations has he ruined?

A second point: He entered into a non-disclosure agreement with a Porn Star. On the face of it non-disclosure agreements are not illegal - done all the time; as well as payments made to seal the deal. As I understand this case President Trump's attorney made the arrangement and payment to one "Stormy Daniels". Then the Trump business reimbursed the attorney. Donald Trump doesn't do bookkeeping; he has employees who do that and one thinking the payment was for legal expenses entered that in the business records. Where is the crime in that? Now the big question is; If what I have written is factual - where does the 28 or so felonies come from? RB perhaps you can name one? Just one - let's see it! Fake news must have all the facts? ---- RIGHT - NOT! And also how come no fine or jail time??
