Pourville Grand Re-opening September 17
"We are happy to be back in Vinton! We are up and running. We hope that people from Vinton take advantage of the Art activities that we will be offering," said Dandeena Schadle owner of Pourville Art Studio and Gallery. Pourville had to relocate last December after the building sold where they had previously been located. The business had been in that location for three years prior.
Governor Reynolds signs Harvest Proclamation
Today, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation relating to the weight limits and transportation of agricultural commodities on state highways during the fall harvest. The proclamation is effective immediately and continues through October 1, 2022. The proclamation allows vehicles transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage and stover to be overweight (not exceeding 90,000 pounds gross weight) without a permit for the duration of this proclamation.

Fertilizer prices are high.Now, on to new business.As we rode the second half of the Iowa State Fair, we also know that it won’t be long and the combines will hit the field, tillage will start to happen, and we will be setting the stage for next year’s growing season. That is usually accomplished by the farmers who fall-apply fertilizers. However, prices are still up from last fall.

As we catch our breath from our busiest month to date, we look forward to what September has in store for us.Only six total events for the month, two public and four private. Our awesome staff worked their tails off last month and they need a break. You might notice that we are not setting up during the Vinton Car Cruise on the 24th. If you are in town for this event and you are hungry, please stop at "Merchants Grilling" and tell them we sent you! The plan is to hang up our pizza aprons for the day and help them wherever we can.

Petersen Attends National Policy Trip
By Samantha Petersen, Benton County Farm Bureau Vice President-I was able to travel to Washington DC to join several representatives of Iowa Farm Bureau for the 2022 National Policy Trip. We had an excellent trip which included the opportunity to meet with Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, Senator Chuck Grassley, and Senator Joni Ernst to express Iowa Farm Bureau’s positions on key issues that could affect us here at home and on our farms.
