Normally, I don't promote anything happening outside of Benton County. However, it's the Christmas season, and this news release came in. There is a Live Animal Christmas Show that happens in southeast Iowa in Washington, Iowa.

I've seen this production, in Washington, Iowa, and as a gal that's seen a lifetime of church productions, this one is impressive. There are several things that kids will just love. If you direct plays, there are tips that you may not have thought to try.

The church is located at 215 South Marion Avenue, Washington, Iowa.

The production includes a camel, inside the Marion Avenue Baptist Church and is in its 48th year. The Christmas show is free to attend.

There are only four shows with openings left for the 2022 production. Show times are as follows:

Saturday, December 10th, 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, December 11th 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Arrive 1 hour early and walk in for seating. No tickets are needed.

WABC released the following statement.

The production is a spectacular event filled with the sights and sounds of Christmas. The indoor theatrical production tells the Christmas story of the birth of Jesus Christ and is unique among Christmas events, in that the play is performed inside the church with the use of live animals. A full-size camel comes right down the aisle! Get your picture taken with many of the Christmas animals including a real camel!

The play features various state-of the-art theater technologies. In addition to full artificial stage lighting, the crowd will be awed by special effects such as fog and live flying angels hovering over the congregation. Last year, thousands of people came to the town of Washington, Iowa to make this event their Christmas tradition.Members of the Marion Avenue Baptist Church comprise the cast and crew; they spend hundreds of hours planning and preparing to perform the play each year. We invite you to attend any or all of the free performances. Seating is on a first come first served basis. SH November 30, 2022, 2:24 pm My family has been to this and it is AMAZING!! Highly recommend! However, while yes the tickets are free when we showed up after a long ride there were TONS of people there and we almost didn’t get in! I would recommend you show up early and find an organizer to secure your seats!!!
SK November 30, 2022, 5:33 pm Having lived in Washington for 18 yrs we have been to this many times. To say it is AMAZING is an understatement. I leave every time in tears. I would however advise that you get there VERY early. It fills up very fast.
