Trinity Lutheran Church invites you to supper at the church, located at 1002 E. 13th St. in Vinton on Wednesday, March 17 between 5-6:30 p.m.The church will be serving Reuben Sandwiches plus all the (Green!) salads and (Green!) desserts you can eat!To-Go boxes are available by calling 472-5571 to pre-order. A freewill offering will benefit the TLC Preschool.
On March 31st, beginning at 6:30 p.m. there will be fun for the whole family at Oak Grove Church. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. there will be a check in time. The Escapade will begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m. the Celebration will be from 7:30-7:45 p.m.For many kids, Easter goes hand-in-hand with chocolate farm animals and plastic eggs. Vinton Today has received word that the Easter Bunny will arrive at the Kiwanis Park on W 13th St & Hwy 218, Vinton. The plan is that on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. there will be an Easter Egg Hunt with the help of the Kiwanis. The trainwreck we know as 2020 derailed the Annual Boomtown Celebration in August, but plans are coming together to celebrate the 14th annual event at the Benton County Fairgrounds in Vinton, Iowa, on Saturday, August 28, 2021.What is Boomtown?In case you’re new, or have forgotten - be prepared. Boomtown isn’t your your typical small-town-USA fireworks display.
The 2021 Benton County Fair will be held June 22-27. Events are scheduled from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. each day, Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday the 27th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The livestock aspect of the fair will begin as early as this month. The 4-H Swine Weigh-in will be held, Saturday, March 20 from 9-10:00 a.m. at the Fairgrounds.April 1, entry information for the Iowa State Fair will be available.
The Blairstown Legion Hall will hold a Fish & Steak Supper on Friday, March 12th from 5 to 7:30 p.m. drive-up or delivered.The Blairstown Legion Auxillary will also be hosting an Authentic Mexican Supper prepared by Martin and Paty Delgado. There will also be margeritas. This event will be held on March 20, from 5-7:00 p.m.
Central Lutheran School’s (CLS) Spring Fling will be taking place on Saturday, April 10th beginning at 4:00 p.m. The church is located at 310 3rd St. W. in Newhall. The event is held every two years. All money raised will benefit the school and programs. Due to the Derecho and damages to the school, this will be a particularly important Spring Fling fundraising effort.
The CPU All School Reunion got “the football pulled out from under it” last spring by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Reunion committee has decided not to trust conditions this spring and will skip this year and plan the All School Reunion for June 2022. It will be held during Pork Days which won’t have a definite date until around January 2022.
Families are invited to join the virtual East Central Iowa STEM Festival on Sunday, March 21. The festival is free and open to the public. Participants are required to pre-register to receive access to the virtual festival platform. Families can register at https://tinyurl.com/Y6RL7GJ4. The goals of the festival are to promote, inspire and engage youth in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities and to introduce students and parents to STEM careers.
