Vikette volleyball 1-3 at WaMaC Tournament

MOUNT VERNON & MARION - The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity volleyball team (17-17) took to the WaMaC Tournament Pool Play and Bracket Play at Mount Vernon and Marion High Schools in Mount Vernon and Marion.

In the first match of pool play the Vikettes defeated the Maquoketa Cardinals 2-1 (10-21, 21-10, 15-10), were defeated by the West Delaware Hawks 2-0 (21-9, 21-11), were defeated in the first match of bracket play by the Marion Wolves 2-1 (18-25, 25-14, 15-4), and were defeated in the finale by the Benton Community Bobcats 2-0 (25-13, 25-14).

The Vikettes will take on the Union Knights in the quarterfinal of Regional action at Union High School in La Porte City on Monday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.. The Vikettes won in the first round of the quarterfinal round of the Regional on Oct. 19, 2020 at Monticello in five sets. If the Vikettes win they will take the winner of the winner of the New Hampton Chickasaws and the North Fayette Valley TigerHawks.
