Stranded in the middle of an ocean, on someone else’s boat after withstanding one of the most devastating hurricanes ever recorded. Human resilience is featured in this week’s film.

Adrift is based on the inspiring true story of two avid sailors, Tami Oldham and Richard Sharp who sail across the ocean, unknowingly right through one of the most devastating hurricanes in history. After they pass through the storm, Tami finds Richard injured, their boat ruined and no hope for rescue. Tami must find the strength to not only save herself, but the only man she has ever loved.

We have had so many strong, female lead films this month and this one is no exception. The film starts out with Tami and Richard meeting and falling in love but as time goes on, Tami is the one who must dig in and find her will to survive. I’m pretty excited to see this one and to think it’s based on a true story?! That makes it even better.

Hey – did you know we now have a Movie Text Club? Every Friday we send out a text to members letting them know what the current movie of the week is! And bonus, if we find out a movie is postponed (as in the case of Book Club this week), you will be the first to know. Just text @movietext to the phone number 81010. Never miss a movie you want to see again.

And so many of you are wondering what the future holds for Book Club. As soon as we can get it, we will. Which makes it all the more important to sign up for the text club! Let your friends and family know about our text club too! We don’t want anyone left out of the loop.

Thanks for supporting our little theatre. Movies make life better! If not, there’s always popcorn.
