Globe spanning destruction by monsters and human piloted super machine robots… Sounds like a good premise for a film, am I right? NOW SHOWING Pacific Rim: Uprising in RealD 3D Rated PG-13 Run time: 111 minutes
Fri, Apr 27 – Thu, May 3 at 7 pm Monday Apr 30 at 2 pm
John Boyega, who you know from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, stars as Jake Pentecost, a once promising Jaeger pilot, whose father gave his life combating monstrous Kaiju in the first Pacific Rim film, released in 2013. Jake has since abandoned his training and is caught up in the criminal underworld until an even bigger threat emerges. His estranged sister, Mako Mori, is leading a new generation of pilots. Seeking justice, they unite to fight against forces of extinction.
This is sure to be an action-packed movie. The first was written and directed by Guillermo del Toro who just won a Best Picture Oscar for The Shape of Water, so I feel this film is based on pretty solid ground. I don’t think you’ll have any trouble with the story line if you haven’t seen the first but if you’re up for viewing the original, you can rent it on iTunes for $3.99. Unfortunately, gone are the days of the good old movie stores where you can rent 3 movies for 3 days for $3. I’m still a little depressed by this, can’t you tell? Netflix and Hulu just don’t have it all, people. Just one more reason to see movies at the Palace! BIG SCREEN with amazing sound, the BEST popcorn around (I may be biased, but I’ve sampled A LOT of popcorn) and at just $4 a ticket?! Why not? Movies are always better in a theatre.
Hope to see you here this week at the movies!
