Last week we had a movie set in Iowa and THIS WEEK we have a movie about an Iowa Volleyball team!

NOW SHOWING: The Miracle Season

Rated PG

Run time: 99 minutes

Friday, May 18th through Thursday, May 24th at 7 PM Monday, May 21st at 2 PM

This week’s film is based on the true story of Iowa City West’s 2011 volleyball team overcoming the tragic death of the school’s star player, 17-year-old Caroline “Line” Found. The remaining teammates band together under the guidance of their coach, hoping to win the state championship.

How did this ever come to Hollywood, you may ask? The coach, Kathy Bresnahan wrote to journalist Frank Deford detailing their miracle season. This led to Deford’s piece on HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” in 2012. About a year later, offers from Hollywood came rolling in.

This film is one of those that you can sit back, not think too hard about, and just let the story unravel before you. It would be a good one to take the family to, although the littlest kids will have a hard time sitting through it. This film is a true story about loss and triumph that really hits pretty close to home. It will probably make you cry and lift you up by the end. I’d say it’s a must see!

See you this week at the movies!

PLEASE NOTE: AVENGERS: Infinity War is pushed back one week! Check your email – new movie for May 25 announced on Monday – probably TULLY.
