From the Benton County Cattlemen

May is Beef Month in Iowa! Governor Terry Branstad signed the May Beef Month proclamation on April 18 in recognition of the importance of Iowa’s beef industry to the state’s economy. Iowa is a major beef producing state with nearly 3.85 million head of cattle as of January 1, 2017. The beef industry contributes greatly to Iowa’s economy by generating in excess of $6.9 billion annually, and creating jobs for nearly 40,000 Iowans.

Please join us in celebrating Beef Month at the Vinton Public Library. Eden Community Aid has partnered with the Benton County Cattlemen with a beef promotion. Come explore the display, answer a few questions, and WIN prizes. Five $10 beef certificates, a beef cookbook, and a “Beef, It’s Whats for Dinner” apron will be awarded at the end of May.

May Beef Month is a great opportunity to kick off the summer grilling season. When it comes to grilling, nearly three out of four American grillers say the one meat they grill most often is BEEF!
