On Saturday, April 28, bottomless pots of brewed tea, tea sandwiches, cakes, cookies, and other delicacies, along with live music and entertainment, will fill the Family Life Center at 1523 Sunset Drive, Belle Plaine. The event is hosted by the Herring Hotel Building Alliance and the Wallace Winkie Foundation. Goody bags for each guest and door prizes totaling hundreds of dollars will be given away at the event.
The tea begins at 2:00, with doors opening at 1:00 for a Chicago & Northwestern Railway exhibit by Dennis Greenlee and a Model T exhibit by Dean Carl. Entertainment includes music by the Bostian Family and Miranda Steffensmeier and Gabriella Kramer and a one-woman comedic performance by Betty Moeller.
A fundraising auction will follow the tea. All proceeds go to restore the historic Herring Hotel and to benefit area scholarships for lifelong learners.
