The Herring Hotel Foundation is hosting the first of 4 collaborative meetings tonight in Belle Plaine at the BP Community Center at 6:00 p.m.
This first meeting brings together individuals from the State Historical Preservation Office, Iowa Ecconomic Developement (Main Street Iowa), Iowa Lincoln Highway Assoc, Benton County Preservation Commission, Belle Plaine Community Developement Corp, and Select Structural Engineering out of Cedar Rapids, along with both non-profit groups working to save this property. The evening will focus on the efforts to restore Belle Plaine’s historic Herring Hotel. This meeting is open to the public and everyone with an interest in the Herring Hotel project and/or the community of Belle Plaine is encouraged to attend.
The meeting format will be informal with the focus being primarily on the panel discussion which will involve the representatives from the groups listed above and Herring Hotel Foundation board members. It is the goal of this meeting to take positive steps forward with the groups involved in the panel discussion and with the community of Belle Plaine.
This is the first of many BIG step this group is taking towards restoring a nationally recognized property better known as the Swellest Little Hotel in Iowa on the Lincoln Highway.
We hope you will consider attending, and help us share the news and excitement that this project is bringing to a small rural Iowa community.
