The “Idiot Jam,” the annual concert featuring Vinton singer/guitarist Todd Frank and many of the people he has met through on-line guitar forums,  will be happening again this year, with an added concert added to the traditional one.

“We’ll be playing twice, on September 9th and September 10th,” says Todd.

On September 9, Todd and the others will be playing at the American Legion Fish Fry.  The music will begin at 7 p.m.

Then  the next night, Saturday, Sept. 10, the musicians will take turns at the stage at the Farmer’s Mercantile Hall in Garrison again.  The latter will be a fundraiser for the Garrison library as we have done before. The times for that will be 7:30 – 9:30.  The library board will be hosting a “Noodles and Notes” spaghetti dinner (Free-will offering) from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Hall.

“We’ve never played at the Legion Hall before, but as you know, we’ve played at the Farmer’s Merc several times, and there is always a crowd and we’ve always raised a lot of money for the library,” says Todd.

The annual concert was originally dubbed ‘The Idiot Jam” in reference to the handle Todd has used in some of those Internet guitar forums: “The Village Idiot.”

The event brings musicians from several states to join many from Iowa, says Todd.

“I’m counting 14 states being represented this year, the furthest away being Washington, California, Arizona, Vermont and New York — New York City, specifically,” he says.
