President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt will be buried in Center Point Cemetery…
Well, sort of.
Here’s the story:
On Thursday, Oct. 18, the Center Point Historical Society and Friends of the Center Point Library are again teaming up for the annual Community Harvest Potluck and Program.
The program this year is going to be bully!
Darrel Draper, from Omaha, is re-enacting Teddy Roosevelt, U.S. president from 1901-1909.
Darrel, who is in demand for historical portrayals all over the Midwest, is the son-in-law of Center Point’s favorite daughter Jean Liabo Oxley. And when the time comes–in the far, far distant future—“Teddy” will be buried in the family plot in the Center Point cemetery.
The free Roosevelt re-enactment is at 7 p.m. in the Center Point Public Library basement community room.
The potluck is at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring a covered dish and join in the old-fashioned get-together. Table service and drinks will be provided.
