An event focusing on Farm Programs will be held Thursday, April 5th at the Van Horne Community Center, 500 1st Street in Van Horne. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a free dinner (sponsored by Iowa Corn District 6 Committee) and the event following at 6:00 p.m.. Enjoy the evening with staff from the local United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Farm Service Agency (FSA) including the Farm Loan Officer, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and a Crop Insurance Agent, all in one room to answer your questions together, at the same time. There will be a panel allowing staff to introduce themselves and provide information on available programs, followed up by questions and discussion. This unique opportunity allows you to walk through different processes and understand how farm programs work.
Benton County WLL is part of a statewide USDA outreach project. Women, Land & Legacy is currently active in nearly thirty Iowa counties and brings together Iowa women interested in agriculture, local food and natural resources to converse, listen, and become empowered for involvement on their landscape and in their communities.
This event is free and open to the public, women are strongly encouraged to attend.
