The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular adjourned session with Supervisors Primmer, Wiley and Bierschenk were present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously.

Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To approve minutes of April 17, 2018. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: Approve payment of checks numbered 226942 through 227058, payroll checks numbered 140021 through 140033, and ACH deposits numbered 34092 through 34230 vendor checks numbered 226935 through 226941. Motion carried.

Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To appoint David Vermedahl to the Civil Service Board for the Sheriff’s representative. Motion carried.

Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Resolution #18-21, Hiring Environmental Health and Land Use Technician. Motion carried.

RESOLUTION #18-21

WHEREAS: Environmental Health and Land Use office has a full-time position to fill and;

WHEREAS: Applications were accepted for the position and;

WHEREAS: These applications have been narrowed to one.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY the Benton County Board of Supervisor’s that Trevor Dickerson be hired to fill the position as Benton County Environmental Health and Land Use Technician in the office of Environmental Health and Land Use at a starting salary of $60,000 effective July 9th, 2018.

He will be awarded 35 hours of sick leave and three weeks of vacation per year starting upon his hiring date of July 9th, 2018. Trevor Dickerson’s employment is governed by all other applicable parts of the Benton County Employee Handbook.

Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To approve Iowa Roadside Vegetation Management (IRVM) intern Garald Rivers at $13.00/hour effective May 14, 2018. Motion carried.

Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve and sign extended business lease agreements between Benton County and Cedar Valley Ranch, Inc. for the periods from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 and July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019. Motion carried.

Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To enter into a lease agreement with Robert B. Fischer Law Firm for office space located at 116 E 4th Street, Vinton, Iowa, effective May 12, 2018. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To enter into a lease agreement with Benton County Title Company for office space located at 114 E 4th Street, Vinton, Iowa, effective May 12, 2018. Motion carried.

The time of 9:30 a.m. having arrived and this being the time and date for a public hearing on the adoption of the county’s FY18 budget amendment, the chair opened the public hearing for comment. There were no members of the public present. There were no comments heard in opposition to the FY18 budget amendment. Hearing nothing further, the chair declared the public hearing closed.

Wiley moved/seconded: To adopt Resolution #18-22, FY 18 Budget Amendment. Motion carried.

RESOLUTION #18-22

BE IT REMEMBERED on this, the 24th day of April 2018, the Board of Supervisors of Benton County, Iowa, met in session for the purpose of hearing on an amendment to the current operating budget adopted on March 7, 2017. There was a quorum present as required by law. Thereupon, the Board found that the notice of time and place of the hearing had been published. Thereafter, and on said date the

amendment was taken up and considered. Thereafter, the Board took up the amendment to the budget for final consideration and determined that said budget be amended as follows:
