A Grand Opening celebration for Virginia Gay Hospital’s new Vinton clinic will be held Thursday, May 10th, starting with social time at 11 am. The ribbon cutting will follow at 11:30. Tours of the new facility will start after the ribbon cutting and continue until 1 pm. Light refreshments will be served in the clinic conference room located on the upper level during the event.
The new clinic building has made it possible for Virginia Gay to attract two new doctors. Dr. Erica Silbernagel, D.O., husband Colman, and son Lincoln will be coming to the Vinton Family Medical Clinic this fall. She is a graduate of the College of Saint Benedict & Saint John’s University and the Des Moines College of Osteopathic Medicine. Now completing her third year of residency at the La Crosse-Mayo Family Medicine Residency, she is looking forward to her family moving into a home they recently bought in Vinton.
Dr. Emily Guerber, M.D., will be joining the Vinton practice in the fall of 2019. She is also in the La Crosse-Mayo Family Medicine Residency, currently in her second year. Dr. Guerber is a graduate of Michigan State University and received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Minnesota. Her family includes husband Michael and daughter Margaret.
The Virginia Gay Hospital Health Care Foundation contributed $500,000 to the construction of the new clinic from foundation funds. A capital campaign for the clinic construction, along with a contribution from the annual Tree of Lights Campaign, provided close to $1million of the donations used for the project. Virginia Gay Hospital provided the balance required to complete the $5.5 million project, and plans are that staff for the facility will eventually include up to nine primary health care providers and one behavioral health specialist. There are currently three doctors, two physician assistants, and one nurse practitioner practicing in the Vinton clinic.
Virginia Gay asks supporters not to send flowers or plants for the grand opening because health clinic regulations restrict the display of many natural and artificial plants. If you would like to make a contribution to the facility, donations to this capital campaign are still be taken and can be made online at www.myvghfoundation.org or by contacting Robin Martin at the Foundation office by phone at 319-472-6375 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
