The focus of the organization is to ensure that children enter school happy, healthy and ready to learn. Genealogy and local history information is located at the Horridge House at 612 First Ave. Contact Martha Long for hours: 319-472-4465. Ray House, located at 912 First Ave., is available for private and public events, and tours by appointment. The Vinton Depot Museum is open during the Farmers Market on Thursdays from 5-7 pm and other times by appointment. New members and volunteers are always welcome!

To prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Since 1933, Troop 47 of Vinton has helped teenage boys learn values and leadership skills by providing a variety of fun and challenging opportunities. The Troop currently has weekly meetings and monthly campouts, plus a week-long summer camp and a week-long "high adventure" trip each summer. Recent high adventure trips have been to locations such as the Colorado Rocky Mts and the Boundary Waters Canoe Access Wilderness.

Cedar Valley Country Quilters

Cedar Valley Country Quilters meet the second Wednesday of every month at Windsor Manor. We share our skills with each other by completing various service projects throughout the year. We have made quilts for cancer, Fidget quilts, and to support Virginia Gay Hospital.

Early Arts Study Club

The club was formed in September of 1936 to study various art forms. The group meets the 3rd Monday of each month at 2:00 p.m. The area of study various according to the members in the club who present a program according to the topics of interests. Activities include a Fall Trip, as well as a Guest Day in May.

GoVS(Generating Opportunities for Viking Scholars) is a local non-profit organization affiliated with the Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District Foundation which is a 501(c)3 corporation. The purpose of this organization is to support graduates of Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District by providing scholarships through conducting fund raising activities during the year and receiving contributions/donations/endowments to help provide such scholarships.
