Local law enforcement officers from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Vinton Police Department, Belle Plaine Police Department, and Urbana Police Department will be hosting a self-defense training workshop on Saturday, September 29th. This training is open to the general public, and is absolutely free. The event will be held at the Vinton Skate Center from 9:00 – 11:00 am. This training is for both men and women, age 14 and up. No experience is required.
This workshop will include both lecture and hands-on training. Topics will include pre-encounter preventative measures, top situational awareness tips, and five of the most effective and practical techniques that can be used against a hostile attacker regardless of your age, gender, or skill level. Participation is encouraged, but not required. Observation is okay. Please wear athletic clothing and comfortable shoes.
This workshop is limited to the first 50 people that register. If the class fills, we will plan on scheduling more events to accommodate as many people as possible. To pre-register, please contact Leslie McKibben at 319-472-2321 or email her at mckibben@vintonpd.com.
