You might have seen the purple shirts swarming around Vinton and wondered, “What’s going on?”

For the past 3 years, Blessed Hope Church has taken “in town mission trips” to Vinton and the surrounding communities.

They’ve helped build playgrounds, worked on trails, remodeled homes and even done a mini home makeover, all without fanfare or expecting anything in return.

This year found them painting a couple of homes in the area, laying flooring, putting roofs on a couple homes, as well as doing a few projects at the Garrison library.

Some folks in the area might have received a random act of kindness in the form of a gift card from Fareway.

While the adults did a variety of projects and tasks around the community, there was a crew preparing meals at the church to fuel all of the workers as well as the children that came to the church to enjoy some fun of their own.

The children who came with their parents, spent the day hearing Bible stories and playing together but also were able to visit some of the assisted living homes in the area. They sang song for the residents as well as played games and shared snacks with them.

The church estimates that about 150 adults participated in the activities this year, and close to 90 children were part of the fun!

Blessed Hope meets for their regular service at 9:30 on Sunday morning.  (Blessed Hope is located behind Theisen’s)
