On Tuesday March 14, 2017 through Friday March 17, 2017 the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA held their local FFA week activities here at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School.
The week’s activities included:

We had a lot of members participate during this week of fun.
Along with wild west Wednesday the chapter supplied breakfast for the high school teachers to show appreciate for their support throughout the year.
Tractor day is always a favorite, and we had 13 members who drove tractors or garden tractors to school. We had the privilege to be able to have Kromminga Motors bring their dynamometer instrument on that Thursday during B lunch and 5th period to conduct a test of PTO horsepower. The three members who dynoed their tractors were Clark Robertson-John Deere 8329R, Ethan Horak-John Deere 8430, and Weston Bierschenk-New Holland T7-235. After school member’s went to Tooties to celebrate FFA week, and while some drove tractors, others drove their vehicles.
On Friday, we held a pep assembly to “kiss a goat” that was part of a fundraiser that took place during both lunches all week. Jars were set up for students to donate money to vote for the teacher they wanted to kiss the goat.
Ms. Hamilton (Guidance Counselor) had the most with $25.61, 2nd was Mr. Islas (Vice-Principal) with $22.00, 3rd was Mrs. Heeren (Ag & FFA teacher) with $9.90, 4th was Ms. O’brien (Math Teacher) with $6.77, 5th was Mr. Lorenzen (Science) with $6.71, and 6th was Mr. Womochil (Social Studies) with $2.53.
