Owners or senior managers of local businesses are encouraged to take a 4-minute internet usage survey and can access the survey here. Results will be shared at a special VMEU meeting to be held at 6:30 PM on June 27th. All VMEU meetings are open to the public, and this one will be held at the Vinton-Shellsburg School District’s Central Office, 1502 C. Avenue. If attending, please use the south door across from the baseball diamond.
Several consultants working on Vinton’s communication project will be making presentations at the special meeting. A key presentation will be made by a representative of UNI’s Center for Decisionmaking. They will present results of the recent household communications survey. A total of 575 surveys were returned, and the large percentage of total surveys distributed will provide a high degree of confidence in the results. Determining consumer enthusiasm for the service is a key element in any decision to move forward with the next steps in the process.
Curtis Dean will present recommendations for partnerships with companies and organizations that can significantly reduce Vinton’s investment in equipment. The VMEU board extended requests for information to many companies and organizations. Thirteen organizations and businesses expressed interest in participating in various parts of the progress.
Todd Kielkopf of Kadvise Consulting will present information about creating a detailed business model for VMEU to use in work with firms placing bonds. A decision to continue working on the project will require completing a detailed plan specifically for financing.
If key decisions affecting the project are approved in a timely manner, the project could be completed as early as the end of next year.
Again, if you own or manage a business located in Vinton, please take the business survey by clicking here. Again, the survey will remain active until this coming Monday at midnight.
