In October North Benton Ambulance took delivery of a new 2017 Ford E-450 type III Ambulance. North Benton Ambulance Service is located at 704 W 4th St Vinton and houses 2 ambulances responding to approximately 900 incidents per year in Vinton and the surrounding communities. Each ambulance is staffed with well-trained EMT’s and paramedics who use state-of-the-art equipment to provide excellent prehospital emergency care. The new ambulance replaced a 2006 model with over 150,000 miles. By trading in the 2006 ambulance and remounting the patient care compartment North Benton Ambulance saved over $100,000 on this purchase. New features of this ambulance include all LED emergency lights, LED scene lights, a mobile WIFI hotspot, GPS and a gas engine for quieter operation with lower maintenance costs. A portion of the purchase was funded by the Northeast Iowa Community Foundation of Benton and Buchanan counties and local options sales tax dollars.
