The Highway 150 bridge leading north out of Vinton remained closed, and many streets and roads will be under water for most of this week.

Across the street from Veterans Park, Carol Geiger points out a cross that marked how far the water reached into her front yard. Also, on the pole near the street, a piece of paper marked this year’s high water mark level — three feet below the painted line that indicates how high the water was in June of 2008.

Carol Geiger points out the 2016 flood level; the painted line above her head represents the record 2008 high water mark.
