The Iowa Board of Medicine has charged surgeon Margaret J. Ferhle of 18 counts of “improper patient care” while performing surgeries and treating patients in Marshalltown and also in Vinton.

The Board cited 18 specific anonymous patients that Ferhle had treated between 2008 and 2015. She began treating patients in Vinton in 2014.

A press release from the Board of Medicine says, “Margaret J. Fehrle, M.D., a 55-year-old Iowa-licensed physician who practices orthopedic surgery in Marshalltown and Vinton, Iowa, had a Statement of Charges issued by the Board on March 8, 2018. The Board alleged that Dr. Fehrle violated the laws and rules governing the practice of medicine in Iowa when she failed to provide appropriate orthopedic surgical care to multiple patients in Marshalltown and Vinton, Iowa, between 2008 and 2015. A hearing is scheduled on May 17-18, 2018.
