Amanda Cardenas swimming her 200 Freestyle.

Another strong performance at Williamsburg Monday night – VSU took 2nd out of 5 teams. We love this meet because we’re all schools of similar size, many girls know each other, and we’re pretty evenly matched so it makes for great races.

–VSU won 4 events, came in 2nd in 5. It was a close race in the team competition with just over 4 points separating the top 3 teams. Tipton has a lot of talent and is pretty deep in most of their events, they were a tough opponent for us. Williamsburg was right in there too, their strength and numbers made us work for our 2nd place finish overall.
–Arabella Shepard & Geordyn Webster both won each of their individual events and were part of 2nd place relays. Both swam anchor on relays that made gained a place or two, but just ran out of real estate to catch the lead team.
–Clarissa Carolan & Lexi Goodell swam well to bring home 2nd place points in each of their events against very fast fields. And Amanda Cardenas powered through the 200 Freestyle to place well, even ahead of girls in a faster heat.
–Our newcomers Zoe Mohr, Hanna Higley, and Abby Morarie are dropping time very well – it’s great to see their work paying off.
This was our 3rd meet in 5 days, with no practices in between. That takes a toll. It’ll be good to have a week of consistent practice to work on some specific points (turns, starts, relay exchanges) before our home meet next Tuesday against Williamsburg. It’ll be a good meet!
