There are so many people and organizations who came together to honor Mike Ferguson that it is impossible to thank everyone individually.

For many, this was both a personal and a professional loss.

Mike ministered not only to his churches but to the community as well.

Thank you to the Vinton-Shellsburg High School for the use of their facilities, the staff who worked so diligently in the kitchen and setting up the gym and David Gates for his expertise as sound technician. Thank you to the churches that provided food and refreshment at the visitation and after the funeral.

Thank you to Scott Hansen’s expertise in coordinating several local fire departments, EMS and police with traffic control, parking and the processional to the cemetery.

Thank you to the Iowa State Sheriffs and Deputies Association Honor Guard for their tribute at the visitation and at the cemetery. Thank you to Randy Forsyth, Sheriff Ron Tippett and the Benton County Sheriff’s Department and Chief Ted Paxton and the Vinton Police Department for their professional cooperation and assistance despite their own sense of loss.

Thank you to Tim and Deb at Evergreen Cemetery for their extra hours of mowing to make the cemetery beautiful.

Thank you to all the ministers, singers and eulogists who were part of Mike’s service. It was a wonderful tribute to Mike, his family, his faith and his community. We were honored to be part of it.

Sincerely,

Frank Van Steenhuyse, Gail Wood, Brenda McBride, Rich Farmer and Bill Ortgiesen
